As part of this updated module there is a requirement for learners to complete a minimum of 30 hours work experience working with children with special educational needs in a primary, post   primary or special school. Garda vetting is required

Aim of the Module  

This module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the theory and practice underpinning care of those who present with special educational needs to enable the learner   to assist in the provision of this care.  

Objectives of the Module   

• To familiarise the learner with legislation and types of education provision for children with  special educational needs in Ireland  

• To examine interventions and design activities for children with special educational needs (SEN)  

• To reflect on own attitudes, values, beliefs and assumptions in relation to working with and on  behalf of children with special educational needs.  

•  To enable the learner to take responsibility for his/her own learning.
